This will probably fall into the "Zzzzzz" category for most, but I can't resist crowing about how nice it is to have a forklift with the curiously rare, "fork positioning" option. The thing that's so cool about this is not just the fact that you don't have to get off the truck to reposition the forks...unlatching, pushing, relatching, etc....but the other aspects that I didn't realise would be so nice until I actually used the little bugger for awhile. When you approach a machine, odd shaped crate, pallet or whatever, you don't have to estimate where to push the forks for optium position, you just drive up and adjust as you're looking at the piece. And often you can spread the forks, so that they push against the enclosed timbers or feet to increase stability while driving around. You can also do the opposite and "pinch" things thereby lifting objects without even getting under them sometimes. You can spread the forks after you set a "pinched" object down, and back out much easier than otherwise. I find myself using the positioning lever much more often than the side shift lever. These things are too cool !The only downside is the positioning carriage projects an inch or so more than a side shift only, carriage, thereby lowering capacity a few hundred pounds (this is a 6,000 lb nominal capacity lift), and you can't close them quite all the way against each other (although with a chain around them for "crane" duty there is enough "slop" that they do press against each other at the ends). From a "keep it simple" standpoint I suppose it's one more thing that can go wrong, but otherwise I'm mystified why this option is so rare on forklifts.Anyway, just thought I'd post this dribble in case anyone is looking for a forklift and runs across one with fork positioning to give it serious consideration. I have the impression that dealers don't put any extra "value" on lifts that have this, so it's pretty much "free" on used lifts if you can find it.Closed all the wayPartially openWhere to paint the flames ?[This message has been edited by D. Forklift forks can transform an ordinary forklift into a versatile and efficient machine, boosting productivity and enhancing workplace safety.
No matter how long your forklifts are, the day might eventually come when youre dealing with a load that outpaces them. When that happens, youll want to use a forklift fork that provides additional coverage by physically adding material to the end of the tines of the unit.
At Helmar, we understand your need for top-quality, reliable forklift forks. Thats why we offer a wide range of extensions to meet all of your needs.
Forklift forks have many benefits and play a crucial role in broadening the lifting capabilities of your forklifts. Instead of investing in specialized forklifts for every unique task, these extensions can adapt your forklifts to a wide range of applications.
The value of using quality forklift extensions cannot be overstated when it comes to workplace safety. Well-designed extensions distribute the load evenly, reducing the likelihood of accidents due to imbalanced or dropped cargo. Furthermore, they enable your forklifts to handle bulky items safely, thus minimizing the risk of material damage or injury.
To enhance the utility of your forklifts, knowing the types of extensions and their function is essential. Forklift extensions come in various types, each designed to meet specific needs.
Standard forks are typically made of high-strength steel, these forks are attached to the front of the forklift and are used to slide under, lift, and move loads around the load center. The standard fork size and capacity can vary depending on the forklift model and the specific application it is designed for.
Lumber forks are specialized extensions that facilitate the handling of long, cumbersome lumber materials. If your business deals with wood or construction supplies, these extensions are great for transporting large wooden beams or planks safely and efficiently.

Rug and carpet rams are round-shaped extensions. These extensions make it easier for operating engineers to pick up bolts of fabric used as floor coverings. These are usually shipped in tightly wound packages, making them difficult to manage with any other arrangement.
Other styles, such as the standard tapered ones, are far better known in the industry. Nevertheless, theres a place for each type of forklift extension technology youre likely to come across.
More extensive retail and warehousing operations will probably need more than one type of extension. Theyll find themselves dealing with different kinds of loads.
They may also need more than one strength since operating engineers can lift only a certain amount of any product using a single fork. Fortunately, the wide variety of products on the market should make it relatively easy to find something that will work even if you are dealing with a particular edge case.
Selecting the right extensions can enhance performance, safety, and efficiency in your operations. Here are some key factors to keep in mind:
The first thing you should consider is the material and build quality of the extensions. Opting for high-quality materials like reinforced steel or premium steel blend can significantly increase the durability and safety of your forklift extensions. Remember, subpar materials not only wear out quickly but can also be a safety hazard.
Next, make sure the extensions youre considering are compatible with your existing forklift models. The last thing you want is to invest in forks that dont fit or work efficiently with your machine. Always check specifications, and when in doubt, consult with experts or your forklift manufacturer.
