SANSUNG offers a complete line of tapered rods and bits for all of your hand-held pneumatic drilling needs. For mine, quarry and tunnel work, we provide quality tools that withstand the toughest rock drilling demands.
With our comprehensive product line, you can find the exact configuration to integrate into your drilling operation. Our tapered bit and rods come in a variety of taper angles, and we provide tapered rods in a full range of shank configurations and steel hex diameters. Our tapered bits include both cross and button designs, as well as chisel design. SANSUNG tapered rods are available with high-frequency or fully carburized heat treatments.
1. Taper chisel bit
The taper chisel bit is widely used in drilling holes with depth less than 5 meters and diameter ranged in 20-45 mm by light-duty rock drill, like Y20, Y24.

2. Taper cross bit
The taper cross bits can be used under any rock drilling condition because of it's comprehensive adaptability. Compared with taper chisel bits, taper cross bits have a better drilling performance because carbide tips on cross bits doubled, which means carbides shape are cross type on drill bits. Taper cross bit is mainly used for hard or very hard rock formation.
3. Taper button bit
Comparing with taper chisel bits and taper cross bits, button bits has higher technology, much longer primary drilling time and higher drilling efficiency, so that the button bit is popular among the users.
According to the tungsten carbide insert, tapered button bits can be divided into the types of hemispherical button, conical button and parabolic button, etc.
Button bits with hemispherical button is for high bearing capacity and abrasive resistance while conical button and parabolic button are for high drilling speed and low abrasive resistance.
Pneumatic rock drill bits means the drill bits that match with the pneumatic rock drill, which use compressed air to power the drilling mechanism. And it is typically tapered drill bits, including taper button bits, taper chisel bits or taper cross bits. And it plays an important role in industries that require efficient drilling and blasting operations. Here are some key points:

Taper Button Bits
The taper button bits have multiple tungsten carbide buttons. These buttons effectively break rock through impact and rotational action, and are suitable for rock formations of various hardness. The skirt material are normally 45CrNiMoV or 35CrNiMoV, buttons material are YK05. Some common models such as 32mm-7buttons, 34mm-7buttons, 36mm-7buttons, 38mm- 7buttons, etc. And the skirt length typically are 50mm,55mm or 60mm. Different market require different length. For example, most market prefer 60mm, while in South America, customers prefer 50mm or some 55mm. We accept customization if you have any special requirements.
Taper Chisel Bits
The end of the taper chisel bit has a chisel-like edge that can break through tough materials. This edge helps in chipping away material and creating cracks, and then break or remove. The taper chisel bits have simple manufacturing process, convenient regrinding, reliable operation and strong adaptability to rock properties. However, due to its low strength, fast wear, easy bit jamming, and poor powder removal system. Many markets have eliminated this drill bit.
Taper Cross Bits
The cutting edges of the drill bit are in a cross shape, which helps improve drilling stability and drilling efficiency. Because the cross shape can distribute pressure more evenly and cut rock effectively. The cross drill bit has higher wear resistance than the chisel bit. It is mainly work for drilling blastholes, rock holes, coal holes, concrete holes, etc. It has strong wear resistance, which is five or six times stronger. The diameter of cross bits are 32mm-50mm.
Choosing the right pneumatic rock drill bits type depends on your specific application and the material you need to drill. If you have specific project needs or material requirements, please provide more information to better recommend the right type. Let us know:
