Extra Heavy Duty Cantilever Racks have capacities that range from - LBS. per arm (based on the arm length). To determine arm capacity take the total weight of the bundle (or bundles) being stored on each level and divide it by the number of arms supporting the bundle. Extra Heavy Duty Cantilever racking is designed for storage of heavy, long loads and is primarily used in warehouses, distributions centers (DC&#;s) and manufacturing facilities.

We offer a full line of light duty, intermediate duty, heavy and extra heavy duty cantilever racks. We provide multiple configurations of a wide variety of cantilever racks. Our roll formed and structural cantilever racks can be configured for a wide range of applications. We have the heavy duty cantilever racking system that generates solutions for your storage needs.

A Unit of Extra Heavy Duty Cantilever Racking has 3 Primary Components:

Heavy Duty Cantilever Rack Builder

Description

Cantilever rack is a storage rack with horizontal arms extending from a vertical column, ideal for long and bulky materials, such as pipes, lumber, etc. It can be double-sided or single-sided, outdoor and indoor and made for different loads.

Cantilever Racks

If you own a business that sells lumber, piping, carpeting or any other type of long, bulky item, then you&#;ve probably already run into the issue of trying to store all those long, bulky items. It&#;s tempting, but it is not a recommended storage practice to simply pile everything up on the floor! This is where a good cantilever racking system comes in. Be it light duty cantilever racks or heavy duty &#; we are here to help.

Industries using the cantilever racks:

  • Construction&#;for stainless steel pipes and tubes;
  • Steel industry&#;for storing heavy steel bars, beams, and profiles, large sheets of metal, aluminum, or steel;
  • Wood industry or timber industry&#;for lumber, plywood, and other wooden materials;
  • Chemical process industry&#;for PVC pipes, plastic tubing, etc.;
  • Buildings&#;for roofing materials, drywall, and insulation;
  • Carpet industry&#;for operations with rolls;
  • Automotive&#;for storing tires, exhaust pipes, and other auto components
  • Textiles&#;for rolls of fabric, textiles, and upholstery.

Roll-Formed racks are made from lighter gauge steel and are best suited for lighter loads and smaller items. They assemble using boltless pin connectors, making installation and reconfiguration quick and easy. Light-duty cantilever racks are perfect for storing lighter-weight materials or when lower capacity is needed.

Structural racks are made from heavier gauge steel that is made from hot rolling raw iron. Structural cantilever racks also offer greater flexibility in terms of layout customization than their Roll-Formed counterparts. They can be configured in both single-sided and double-sided arrangements depending on your storage needs. Additionally, they have higher weight capacity compared to Roll-Formed racking systems which allow them to handle heavier loads safely.

Heavy duty cantilever storage racking is a type of warehouse storage system that makes it easy for you to store long and bulky items that is difficult to store on a normal storage shelf.

Components of Cantilever Racking Systems

Cantilever racks are made up of a few different components: bases, uprights, arms, and bracing. The bases serve as the cornerstone of the racking system and anchor it to the floor, acting as the main stabilizing component for the entire system.

Next, there are the upright columns. These connect to the base and have holes in them for the cantilever arms to connect to the system. The cantilever arms, in turn, serve as the actual shelving units where you can place your long and bulky items. They compose each of the storage levels of the cantilever racking system.

The braces are another part of the heavy duty cantilever storage rack system that increases stability. They provide horizontal and diagonal support, ensuring that the items you place on the arms will have the support they need.

Light Duty, Medium Duty and Heavy Duty Storage Racks

Single Sided & Double Sided Cantilever Racks

Single sided cantilever racks are also available. Single sided cantilever racks are commonly used in warehouses and storage facilities to store long and bulky items such as lumber, pipes, and furniture. This type of rack system is designed with arms that extend from a single upright, allowing for easy access to stored items from one side. The single sided design makes these racks ideal for placement against walls or in areas where space is limited.

Cantilever Racks for Steel & Metal

Cantilever racks for steel can store flat sheets (foil or leaf), coiled strips, as well as pipes. Since raw material pipes are long and have a large polar moment of inertia, movement, and rocking should be controlled.

For this, turn your attention to the arms of cantilever metal racks. Both single-sided or double-sided racks have arms that can be as straight as inclined to the center to prevent goods from rolling out.

  • Straight arms up to 48&#; long have a minimum pitch of 3/8&#; per foot to compensate for deflection. 54&#; and 60&#; arms have a minimum pitch of 5/8&#; per foot. They are used for storing steel sheets.
  • Inclined arms have a pitch of 20° or approximately 4.36&#; per foot. This is where you can put rolls or pipes.

Is there an alternative to cantilever racks? Yes, and no. For example, you can use stacked bunks to store pipes. However, this solution may rearrange your handling operations and require different equipment.

Cantilever Racks for Lumber & Pipes

Vertically or horizontally, what is better for wood products?
Experts say that seasoned wood can be stored vertically, and horizontally is best for long-term storage. This also applies to seasoned wood that&#;s less than ½-inch thin.

For storing lumber, cantilever racks must be supported by enough arms to maintain a flat position. This racking system is the best solution to keep lumber because cantilever racks allow equal airflow on both sides of a board. However, do not install them outdoors due to moisture and other environmental reactions of wood.

They are also a perfect solution for pipe storage due to their inclined arms construction. They can also be built as a medium duty double sided cantilevers giving the most space efficient rack used both indoors and outdoors.

Benefits of Cantilever Rack Systems

Cantilever racks offer numerous advantages. Not only do they make it possible to safely store oddly-shaped and bulky items, but they are also fully customizable. You can design them to fit virtually any type of load length you need. This means if you have pipes or pieces of lumber that are different lengths, you can customize different sections of the racking system to accommodate the lengths that you need for each section of the product.

Another one of the primary benefits of cantilever systems is that they offer you open linear storage. You won&#;t have to deal with any vertical uprights when you invest in cantilever racks.

Of course, another extremely advantageous aspect of these systems is that they are able to handle high weight capacities. The heavy loads that you can&#;t safely store on other racking can be stored with ease on cantilever racks.
