Last night it snowed here in Illinois and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Just two more weeks until the big day and I have a confession to make. I’m not a fan of wrapping presents. My hunch says many of you feel the same way so I’m here with the cheater’s guide to Christmas gift wrapping!
Today I’m joining some of my favorite bloggers to bring you a wealth of ideas to make your Christmas presents pretty. Their links are at the end of this post. A special thank you to Krista at The Happy Housie for coordinating today’s event.
My secret for making holiday wrapping easy? Printed gift boxes that are sturdy and durable. The patterns are pretty so there’s no need to wrap them. In fact, sometimes the Christmas boxes don’t even need a ribbon. I find most of my boxes at Home Goods.
For simpler patterned boxes, add an attractive ribbon and a small adornment like a spray of pine cones from Joann Fabrics.
Use coordinating gift tags and other adornments like jingle bells or sprigs of holly.
Use wired ribbon when creating bows for your Christmas gifts. You can manipulate it much easier than regular ribbon.
Unfortunately for me, not all of the gifts I bought fit into the decorative boxes which means I have to do a little bit of wrapping. I chose paper in the same tones as the boxes and tree. I like everything to coordinate.
The whole Christmas gift wrapping/coordinating thing started years ago with my mother. We’d pick paper and ribbon out together and admire each other’s trees and packages. I treasure my memories of mom. She was a devout Christian and I know she’s rejoicing with the angels now.
I think mom would approve of my Christmas box choices this year.
Wrapping presents can be pretty time consuming, so I like my cheater’s guide to Christmas gift wrapping. Not to mention, the recipients love the decorative boxes, too. Since they’re sturdy, they make great containers for storing Christmas ornaments.
What type of gift wrapping do you like most? Do you choose silver and gold, or are you a traditionalist who enjoys red and green under their tree?
